Sony Interactive Entertainment får ny CEO i april

Sony Interactive Entertainment (SIE) annonserte for kort tid siden at Sony Corporation og SIE skal bytte CEO når april ankommer. Nåværende CEO og president John (Tsuyoshi) Kodera kommer til å avtre og innta sin nye rolle som Deputy President i SIE, som rettere sagt er hans gamle rolle siden det var jobben hans frem til oktober 2017. Kodera kommer til å fokusere på å skape innovative brukeropplevelser, og jobbe med å forbedre blant annet PlayStation Network.

I pressemeldingen snakker han om karrièreskiftet: "I have been discussing with Yoshida-san the need to drive SIE to the next phase in our rapidly changing business environment. As a result, we have concluded that the best direction is for me to spearhead the network area to continue creating and innovative services and experiences, where competition continues to intensify with many new players joining the business".

Jim Ryan kommer til å ta over jobben som CEO, og han har selv tidligere vært Deputy President for SIE siden januar 2018. Han blir, for å være presis, president og CEO for SIE hvor han kommer til å svare direkte til Kenchiro Yoshida som er president og CEO for Sony Corporation.

Yoshida hadde også et par ord å si om saken: "Jim Ryan has been long committed to the growth of the PlayStation business for the last 25 years. I believe that this new structure - where Jim will manage SIE's overall organisation and operations, and which will allow John to focus on the key mission to further develop PSN that has grown into an immensely large platform will enable SIE to accelerate its innovation and evolution even further".

Ryan hadde dette å si om hans relativt store forfremmelse: "It's a huge honour to be asked to take on the role of President and CEO of SIE. I've seen the PlayStation business grow and change massively since the early days and I hope to put that experience to good use in reinforcing the foundations of the game and network service business. Working with John and the SIE team around the world, I am committed to strengthening relations with our business partners and to continuing to provide the ultimate interactive entertainment experiences that make PlayStation the best place to play".
